Description Kevin Smith -- America's coolest geek philosopher and director of Clerks I & II and Zack and Miri Make a Porno -- is back: celebrating his 37th birthday in a hilarious take-no-prisoners performance in front of a packed hometown crowd. Join the fun as Smith reveals the hysterical true stories behind the making of Clerks II and Live Free or Die Hard, the inside scoop on Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck and Jason Mewes... plus Weird Doggy Love and The Jury Duty from Hemorrhoid Hell. Sold Out: A Threevening with Kevin Smith has 3x the raunch, 3x the hilarity, and 3x the charm!
Amazon.com To celebrate his 37th birthday, Kevin Smith took to the stage. Anyone else might've thrown a party, but the man who bankrolled Clerks with maxed-out credit cards has never been one to follow convention. Filmed in his native New Jersey, A Threevening features jokes, stories, and questions from the audience. Instead of a suit, Smith's apparel consists of long shorts, checkered sneakers, and a sweat-inducing overcoat (hence, the pile of towels to wipe his face). It may sound like the ingredients for a stand-up routine, except he wrings more humor from biographical incidents than pre-written punch lines. Aside from the movies with which he's been involved, like Clerks II and Live Free or Die Hard, he relates the history of Saint Kevin, a delicate medical dilemma, and the sexual proclivities of dogs Shecky, Mulder, and Skully. Naturally, there's name-dropping--Harvey Weinstein, Hayden Christensen, Bruce Willis, etc.--and more profanity than a Richard Pryor record, but Smith's appeal lies in his honesty and humility. When he says, "Throw a rock, you'll hit a better filmmaker than me," he's calling it as he sees it; not asking for pity or praise. And if he has little patience for the "whiny" and "emo," as he describes Superman Returns, he's just as generous with the praise, describing favorite flicks, like Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, as "pimp." The Q&A continues in the deleted scenes, in which the director sets the record straight about a rumored Dogma sequel and the Clerks sitcom. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

For the fan January 6, 2009 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Let me just get this out of the way... i a a huge kevin smith fan! there i said it. so, now on to my review. when i bought a Threeveing(great title), i was hoping for more of the same great stories(as in the previous 2 releases) from the man known as silent bob. and for the most part he delivered. as disk one started and the first quesrion was asked, kevin launches in to an hour... yes an hour... of a very discriptive, non funny snoty about dog rape. after that the funny starts to peek its little head out. disk to is by far the jem of this set. the die hard 4/ bruce wilis stories are priceless. the extras are accualy funnier then disk one! i recomend this for the real fan of view askew.. other wise you might not "get it".
The first two were better December 29, 2008 I am a Kevin Smith fan. I thought the first two An Evening With's, were better, this one seemed planned ahead, like he had some stories he wanted to tell and forced these stories as answers. Don't get me wrong, the stories are entertaining, they just seemed forced. I think the main part of the DVD lasted about 3 1/2 hours and he answered maybe 6 questions. The extras consisted of additional questions which I found to be more entertaining.
Another excellent entry in Kevin Smith's speaking career December 20, 2008 Kevin Smith is a natural storyteller and nothing is off limits in his latest speaking tour DVD. From how he got his dogs to acting in "Live Free & Die Hard", Smith is hilarious throughout. Still not the excellence that was the first "An Evening with Kevin Smith", but a must for any Smith fan.
if you know kevin, and like kevin...this is for you. December 19, 2008 i have an evening with kevin smith one and two. i must say, three is the same sort of thing. i would send granma from the room, but he's full of delightful stories about his life as only he can tell it.
Absolutely Awesome. December 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Not the best of the Q&A series but well worth the watch for any fan.
