This DVD details operations by the 1st and 6th Marine Corps divisions, and three divisions of the 24th Army Corps against the main Japanese forces on Okinawa during World War II in 1945. Also includes the fight to take Sugar Loaf Hill and Naha.The first film on the DVD was produced by the Marine Corps and chronicles the 6th Marine Division's participation, after its redeployment from northern Okinawa, in Tenth Army's renewed down-island offensive against the main Japanese forces on the island.Part two of the DVD offers two Marine Corps film reports that take you from L-Day on April 1, 1945 to the final phase in which the Japanese were pushed into a 7-square-mile area from the island's total of 921 square miles. The DVD also shows naval bombardment and airstrikes in the capture of Naha. The DVD shows troops from the 4th, 22nd and 29th Marine Corps Regiments.
