This video contains 2 films produced during WW II. The first is on the role played by DDT in eradicating disease in war zones. Interesting footage on DDT being produced in factories, with workers handling this toxic powder without gloves or respirators.According to the narrator, every allied soldier who invaded Normandy was outfitted with a uniform comprised of 1 percent DDT. Other scenes include German POWs being sprayed with DDT, and allied tents and dining facilities being sprayed while soldiers were still in the room. The first film ends with the allies use of DDT to stem the cholera epidemic in Naples Italy during WW II. There are incredible scenes of the civilian population (including infants) being sprayed.The second film deal specifically with the allies effort to rebuild Naples, Italy after the retreating Germans destroyed the city's infrastructure. Again, the use of DDT is discussed. The film also focuses on efforts to restore basic services such as water and electricity.
