Best Presentation on WWII Ever December 14, 2001 Without a doubt the greatest WWII presentation ever produced. Also, the greatest mini-series ever on TV. It rates the highest because of the sincerity of the producers (Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg), but more so by the heroics of the extraordinary men of the 101st. Everybody in the free world owes them a debt of gratitude.

Absolutely the most moving and informative version of the horrors of war I've ever seen. The segment on the medics moved me to tears and really brought home what non-combat heroes they were. They should have all received The Congressional Medal of Honor.
Band of Brothers - Best thing on Cable in 2001 December 13, 2001 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This time Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks married themselves closely to the truth and told a story that didn't need to be repackaged by the Hollywood machine. While not perfectly accurate, the performances by the actors (especially Damian lewis and Ron Livingston), the special effects and cinematography that only $120 million can buy will not disappoint you. This 10-part series is a true gem!!!
Moving and inspirational December 12, 2001 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was mesmerized during the whole series, and eagerly awaited the next installments over the weeks that it aired. The way the series was filmed, the interviews with the surviving members of EasyCompany and the overall compassion and feeling of patriotism this series inspired was awesome. Definitely a series that should be seen by all!
Excellent portrayal of the effects of war December 12, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I, too, have read Stephen Ambrose's book, and feel that the HBO series captured all of the grit, despair and inspiration in Ambrose's Band of Brothers. Consisting (except for Capt. Sobel and Lt. Nixon) of largely unknown actors, each actor had clearly worked hard to capture the essential character of the "real" soldier he portrayed--in some instances spending time with the real Easy Company veteran, in other cases not meeting the soldier until afterwards. A particular standout is Damian Lewis as Major Richard Winters. Although British, he had a convincing Pennsylvania accent and seems to embody Winter's understated style. A moving, unnerving portrayal of the "fog of combat."
