Great instruction! February 27, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you are looking for a video that offers detailed instruction on specific moves, this is an excellent value. It is not a DVD for those seeking dance combinations. The production values are sparse - an unadorned dance studio is the setting and the lighting is a bit questionable, BUT the instruction is excellent. Well worth the money for those seeking to learn/improve technique.
A Great Start February 26, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is an excellent DVD for beginners, but offers something for intermediate students as well. If you're wondering where to start, this is a great DVD to start with.

I've seen several reviews saying how boring the video is, how the dialog 'lacks luster' or how the person doesn't feel like they're getting a work out...
Well I have news for you. This is a VERY BASIC video that shows you how to belly dance. She breaks down the moves so you can get it. Not just so you can learn to prance around as if you've watched a 'how to prance around' video.
The video is not 'entertaining', its not visually exotic or anything cheesy. If thats what you're looking for, go buy one of DOLPHINAS videos. Its entertaining, pretty, lots of closeups to where you can't tell what she's doing and bordering upon soft core porn.
This video is strictly for people who want to learn to belly dance and she does a darn good job of it. I downloaded it a few weeks ago and have learned quite a bit. I'm not a seasoned dancer, but have purchased a lot of the other videos, and have only taken 2 lessons in person but had to quit due to availability. As for not being a work out? I already feel stronger and as if I'm getting better at dancing.
This video is absolutely fantastic for people who want to LEARN how to belly dance.
Excellent Value February 10, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I like the way she starts with basic moves and builds on them. Her explanations are very effective. Lots of material so you can tailor your own lesson. For example, if you wanted to concentrate on upper body moves, you can select upper body in the isolations section, and then select combinations which concentrate on upper body. Good warm-up and cool down sections, also. Very good value.
Great video!! January 16, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this DVD as a supplement to taking live classes. I had seen a clip of it on youtube and decided to shell out the nominal fee for 2.5 hours of instruction. I figured if nothing else, at least I was getting double the amount of instruction for the price of one live class! I was pleasantly surprised at how well it is choreographed as well as easy to follow. The menu is divided into different sections so you can pick which area you want to work on, the practice section gives you the option to listen to her instruction along with the music or just have the music playing while you do your thing. The only drawback I felt was that it can be fast at times, but I am a beginner so I'm hoping as I get better I won't look like I'm having a seizure standing up trying to follow along. I would recommend this video if you are looking to have a good reference DVD. Enjoy!!
