4 out of 5 stars Much better than the first season   February 13, 2007
I almost didn't watch this one because i was so disappointed with the first one, but I'm glad i did. It's still high fantasy, but now it flows well. The sounds, voices, music, lines, writing style are all better than the first season. I'm now looking forward to season 3.

5 out of 5 stars I WAS WRONG! THIS VERSION OF BATMAN IS JUST AS GOOD AS BTAS.   February 7, 2007

In a different way. I've seen the reviews that have something good to say about this latest incarnation of BATMAN in animated form. And the votes against them. So I should expect to receive the same. Here goes anyway. A BRIEF HISTORY OF BATMAN. Batman premiered as a comic in 1939. A grim wartime serial in 1943, a second serial toned down in seriousness but elevated in adventure in 1949, a TV show in 1966 that many purists revile, a series of cartoons from Filmation then Hanna Barbera took over the franchise with the Super Friends series. A short lived animated series in 1977 voiced by Adams West and Burt Ward. Then a major motion picture in 1989 a sequel in 1992 the same year Batman The Animated Series premiered. Batman Forever in 1995 which had some potential and finally Batman and Robin in 1997, ending the first motion picture franchise on a sour note. It was either before or after Batman and Robin (97) BTAS got an overhaul; longer ears, gone was the yellow oval. Now a large black bat spreads across his chest, a stealth looking Batmobile, and a trim Bruce Wayne. Now we finally have the respectable BATMAN BEGINS. But before that THE BATMAN premiered on the WB I think it was 2004. The first impression was not a favorable one, so my intial opinion was like many others IT STINKS, especially when compared to BTAS. BATMAN, THE ANIMATED SERIES was a geared to adults cartoon that children could also watch provided they were not too young (Parents that's your discretion) THE BATMAN is a geared to an estimated early teen audience that adults can also watch (provided they're not too stuffy) So whose to say that THE BATMAN is wrong with its interpretation. The first two season sets come with English, French, and Spanish language tracks and English, French, and, Spanish subtitles. Let's hope further season releases maintain the same integrity.

5 out of 5 stars Ah Getting there   January 13, 2007

It's good but it could be better. However, all the the new story lines aren't needed, it just shows how bad of a writer you really are when you must change story lines to give your writing team or person an edge. I still gave them 5 stars

4 out of 5 stars Good point....an Ultimate Batman   January 12, 2007

Wasn't sure I liked this new Batman. Am a long-time hard core Batman fan. But I agree with previous reviewers; it is an "Ultimate" Batman and it is starting to grow on me, especially this second season. I actually like that Bruce Wayne is a bit goofy, does silly stuff. He is a young Batman and shouldn't be as jaded as the Wayne and Batman of the BAS... his voice shouldn't be as deep as Conroy's.

Two episodes that really stand out; the new quadruple jointed raggedy doll villian (Ragdoll to Riches)....what an incredible piece of creativity and animation...an interesting twist that Catwoman was trying to steal a piece of rare cel animation as opposed to the typical cat statue with ruby eyes, and the episode inside of the Joker's mind (Strange Minds). I can't believe that Timm's group never came up with that episode!

Think of this Batman series as the Smallville of the Superman legacy. It is a bit quirky, has humor and should not be missed if you like Batman.

However, a few hours later I just happened to re watch "Mad Love" from BAS! Boy I miss the BAS, but then again, can that level of creativity, writing, animation be sustained? What a jewel of a series!!

5 out of 5 stars The Batman - The Complete Second Season   January 11, 2007

My son loves this show, and I love watching it with him! Season 1 set the pace for the program, but Season 2 has much more depth of character and more interesting story lines. This is a solid purchase, and with an entire season included for the price, you can't go wrong!
