4 out of 5 stars Very helpful.   December 10, 2008
This was a good intro to signing and the signs that were chosen were very helpful. This made for a good signing foundation. We also liked the 2nd volume. I have to say it taught me more than my son, but allowed me, in turn, to teach him. It only works well if you use the signs in everyday speech.

5 out of 5 stars Love Signing Time   November 30, 2008
At the suggestion of another mom, I purchased Baby Signing Time, Vol. I. It's great! My 18 months twins girls love it. My girls were 26.1 week preemies and although they are exceeding in every other developmental area, they are a little behind on their verbal skills. We are hopeful the video will encourage their verbal skills.

They have quickly picked up on a number of signs. Sometimes it doesn't seem they are actually getting them, but then they will use them unexpectedly hours later! I have also taught my girls a few more signs. Already at 18.5 months/15 months adjusted, Abby is signing "more book" when she wants me to read a book to her. They also use eat and drink to ask for food or indicate hunger.

The words taught are: eat/food, drink/cup, all done, cracker, milk, juice, dog, cat, fish, horse, frog, bird, more, mommy, daddy, grandma, grandpa, hurt/pain, baby.

I do wish it taught want (as in "I want") and please and thank you. I suspect they are on other videos.

I definately recommend the Signing Time video - the earlier the better!

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful DVD   October 23, 2008
We bought this DVD for our 13 month old. He absolutely loves it. It is simple and direct with just the right amount of fun. It makes learning the basic signs so simple. My son loves to watch all of the babies making signs and also loves the music. I find the music entertaining as well. The last song on the DVD is about "owies" and it is so sweet. I tear up when I hear it. I highly recommend this DVD to children who are not yet speaking.

5 out of 5 stars baby signing time, signing time   October 20, 2008
This is a wonderful product, much better than other products that are out there.. the song makes it easier for the parent to remember and reinforce the signs.. it is easy to watch, and does not get irritating or annoying.. what this product did for my son is provide him with a huge vocabulary boost.. When Ms. Rachel signs the new sign, she also says it, my son did the same thing, and would immediately apply it to everyday life.. I have brought it to my son's daycare and they have thoroughly enjoyed it and purchased their own set, as have most of the parents that I know based on how much their child learned, quickly and started to apply.

5 out of 5 stars Great music and easy signs   October 18, 2008
I don't know sign language, but these words/signs are very easy for you and for baby. We have been using the video for about a month since my kids were 5 months. They enjoy watching/listening to the video. I have learned the signs and have tried to implement them in to my day-to-day activities. The songs are really cute and up beat - the colors are bright - and Rachel is very animated. I cannot compare these to the "original" DVDs, but we really like these. Public TV has a Signing Time series - you can view that to get an idea of whether you might like the idea or not (although "baby" signing time is slightly different - but close enough).

I recommend this DVD. I plan to purchase the "regular" DVD series going forward.
